Top 5 Tips for Brave Women like you

There’s one common quality I see in the women I work with: bravery. They have a vision for something more, have decided to go after it and are looking for tools to help them get there.

If that’s you, I honour your courage to go after your dream. Because it takes courage to say “Yes” to a dream. It takes courage to step away from the known and into the unknown. It takes courage to ask for help.

The other thing these women have in common is that they’re on a journey.

Going after your dream isn’t always as easy as it might first appear. It’s rarely one step and you’re done. It’s an adventure. A quest. And there will come a time (often many times) when you question whether continuing is worth it.

Is it worth doing something new when the old way is working okay, fine or alright?

Is it worth upgrading your skills or making a big change when you’re already good at what you’re already doing (and spent a lot of time and money so you could do it)?

Is it worth facing criticism when you choose something for yourself that others might not choose for you?

After all, your comfort zone is very comfy. You know what to expect in the same-old same-old.

It takes courage to say “Yes” to the dream in your heart. …and to keep going when you hit bumps in the road or full-on road blocks.

What I’ve come to learn is a bump or block is simply an indication there’s more to learn. It’s a cosmic, “Yoo-hoo! Hang on a minute!”

It means it’s time to stop and reassess, not give up.

Maybe there’s a better—easier—way.
Maybe you need to ask for help.
Maybe you simply need to stop and rest until you’re inspired to go on again.

…because it’s a journey and it isn’t usually as easy as it first appeared.

Top 5 tips for brave women like you who’ve said (or want to say) YES! to your dreams:

1. It’s a process. Be gentle with yourself.

If your heart is leading you toward something more, let it lead. Be forgiving when you stumble. Sit for a minute when you fall. Take a deep breath, dust yourself off and look at what you were meant to learn. Life happens FOR you not to you. Then repack your satchel and set off again, wiser.

2. Be open to possibilities. Oooo, my favourite word!

Possibilities hold options. When you allow for possibilities you immediately become open-minded. Allow yourself to become open-hearted too so you can allow for even MORE possibilities. Being open to possibilities means you allow for serendipities (another great word!); for new thoughts you’ve never thought before; for inspiration and guidance from outside yourself—from people you know, people you don’t and forces unseen. Possibilities are endless.

3. Know your destination, not the route.

Have an idea of where you’d like to go and a willingness to take the first step, then take it. Be curious about the next step and trust it will be revealed when you’re ready. See #2. Remember, the destination for which you start out may not be where you end up, but it was where you were meant to start. Again, see #2.

4. Let go of perfection; embrace good enough.

Don’t let the fear of having to have it all figured out and a need to know how to do it stop you from doing anything. You know enough to start and you’ll learn as you go. Good enough is more than often more than good enough. The courage to try is WAY more than good enough. You’ve got this! Momentum will kick in but only once you start. Then keep going and course correct as necessary. See #1, 2, & 3.

5.  Enjoy the journey!

Life is meant to be enjoyed. When things feel hard ask, “How could this be easier?” You may be surprised by the answer.

Your dreams are yours for a reason or you simply wouldn’t have them.

Going after your dreams takes courage to start, determination to keep going, and faith you’ll make it.

It also takes trust that you know who you are and what you want.

Hold onto your dream. Believe in your vision. Keep moving toward it.

I honour your bravery.

Onward!
